NewsPlease visit the News Central of Schools Zone. QuotesA picture is worth a thousand words. A model is worth a thousand pictures. What happens when there's no longer any practical difference between computer-generated models and physical, manufactured objects? Desktop fabrication is a lab curiosity -- so far -- but what happens to societies, markets, industries, and professions when you can push "print" and spit out a bicycle? Bruce Sterling, Science Fiction Writer (Source: SIGGRAPH 2004) Welcome MessageDear Visitors, Welcome to our new web site for the Creative Digital Art Classroom (CDAC) project. This web site is maintained by the CDAC Working Group, who is responsible for the planning and implementation of the CDAC project of Schools Zone. We set up this web site to make it easier for art teachers, students and parents who participate in the CDAC program to find the information they need. We also welcome any one who are interested in art and technology education to visit our site and evaluate the CDAC program. This site is very new and was officially opened on 1st September 2004. Most of the information we published in the past is still in the old site. We will gradually move all useful information here and at the same time re-write and re-organize it for improved clarity and easier access. For the convenience of new comers we have adopted the suggestion to label our courses and workshops by target audience, namely:
However, those of you who are familiar with the CDAC project know that this classification is more useful for the new comers only. Different teachers may put the same materials in totally different categories. For the first time we also provide cross-reference convenience of those teachers who want to compile their own courses using our source materials we will also provide other classifications (e.g. cultures, art forms, technical skills, tools, etc.). For more information please We hope you will the information on this web site useful to you. If you have any question, please check out the "Question" section first. If you cannot find what you want, please feel free to write to us or complete our feedback form. Enjoy browsing! CDAC Project Director, Schools Zone Elaine Xavier About Art EducationAs the world is quickly transforming into a knowledge-based society, art education is considered an essential and indispensable element of modern education. Since the beginning of this millennium UNESCO has been working closely with many NGOs to make art education available at every corner in the world including the underdeveloped countries. Schools Zone fully supports this effort and is contributing the results of its research and development in art education to all children. For more information please visit the "Introduction" section of this web site. Project BackgroundCreative Digital Art Classroom is the third major project of Schools Zone. It was initiated by Ms Elaine Xavier and a group of art teachers in 1998 after they saw some successful results in the digital art experimental classrooms they conducted in Summer Project 1997 and 1998. For more information please visit the "Introduction" section of this web site. Our MissionTo develop a content-rich digital art education program that integrates traditional art with modern technology, international culture, world history, mathematics and scientific principles. The program should cover a broad spectrum of topics with an international perspective. We work hard to make it interesting to students around the world whether they want to pursue an art or art-related career or not.
